OK so here I am at Washington Square Mall with Lucien and I’ve posted some early pics. Sure enough, 6:50am was not early enough to be first!
Update: At 1:45 I left with Julie (thanks for coming!) and there were still 50+ people in line. Thanks to Lucien for keeping me company in line!
Just for the record, my son Merritt dragged me outta bed at 5:00am for this, and WE were the first in line! There were a couple of posers that scammed past us in the transition from outdoors to inside the mall, but it was clearly US.
Yea, Merritt! Hope it was worth it, Dad
I’ve been counting down the days until this event. Lived in San Jose for years, moved two years before Apple announced the store concept. Lived in Denver for another year, moved again 6 months before the store opened there. Been living in Wilsonville ever since. Oddly enough though, I couldn’t make it to the opening at 10 due to prior plans (doh, whaaaaa). I did manage to get down there by 2pm though, AWESOME!!! I even discovered that one of my old co-workers is now one of the techs there. How cool is that?
FOR THE RECORD… It doesn’t matter what time you got out of bed if you are standing at the wrong door. The Mall opens at 7:00 AM near the Starbucks entrance. If you called the mall and did some research, you would have found this out. This is what I did and why I was THE first in line. You can call me a “poser” but it still doesn’t change the fact that I was first in line and first into the Apple store. How do you like them Apples?
Yeah, whatever.
Take the glory away from my 14-year old.
What matters not is who got in first or had the first purchase (that seemed a little silly to me anyhow), but that we all had a good time. š
I think those of us that were there for the experience and not the self-glorification did just that!
Being first adds to that experience!
Agreed Steven.. we all had a good time.. š 1st or 6th, or 600th, it was cool and fun. š
I’m disappointed by the lack of coverage by Apple or any other of the usual news sites on the grand opening.
