“Why wait until your child is born,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs remarked, “when you can introduce them to technology while in the womb. Announcing iPod Baby” Shown here for size reference, the iPod Baby is inserted into the womb post-conception by an Apple Genius. “We’ve fitted the Genius bar with the most sterile of stirrups”… Continue reading Apple announces iPod Baby

Whoot! Firefly in HD!
Last month I heard that Universal HD was going to start broadcasting Firefly in High Definition. I called Comcast and requested that we get UHD. Now, as of Sept. 5, they dropped INHD2 and added UHD! This is great. it also shows that they probably have maxed out their HD bandwidth 🙂
Amazon Unbox – Dead Parcel on Delivery
Amazon’s just released video service is already dead. Can you hear the nails being pounded into the coffin? Let’s see what is inscribed on the heads of those nails: Windows Only. No Mac support. No iPod Video support. Nasty EULA “PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE. This software is a pre-release version. It may not work the way a… Continue reading Amazon Unbox – Dead Parcel on Delivery
Sophie takes 5th place at ESUG
Sophie got 5th place at the European Smalltalk Users Group for innovative applications. Considering we’re not shipping yet and nowhere near our desires for Sophie, I’m quite happy. Congrats to the team! ESUG
Perfect something that makes me laugh out loud
At the end of my ten thumbs typing tutor lesson: “Your best keys were: afk” haha. (afk is chat lingo for Away From Keyboard)
Slouching
I slouch. I always have. I’ve decided to start working on my core strength, so I am proactively trying to not slouch. Do you know how difficult this is? I know its working, as my lower back is sore. I’m also doing the stomach tightening gig. However when I am concentrating on work or WoW,… Continue reading Slouching
My next PC will be a Mac
“Alright Steve” is what I know you are thinking. I’m a Mac guy, always have been. What the hell am I talking about? I’ve had a windows box for over a decade now. I use it for work and for gaming. The work aspect is to verify my site, or my code runs, or to… Continue reading My next PC will be a Mac
DiskWarrior for Intel is on its way
I spoke with Alsoft today who said that DiskWarrior is indeed in the works for Intel and while not committing, should be within a couple of months. Yay! Along with Applecare, every Mac user should have DiskWarrior! Buy DiskWarrior for PPC now (Or if you live Oregon/WA, find DiskWarrior at The Mac Store
Path Finder 4.5 released
Cocoatech released Path Finder 4.5, their wonderful replacement for the Finder. It is truly a great application. Check out their 30 day demo. Tabs, navigation bars and a much better searching/filtering system make this one of my favorite apps.
Respecting content
I’ve often talked about the need for societal respect of content copyright. For example, the RIAA would not have a leg to stand on if people didn’t think it was socially ok to steal music. After all, when you look at your mp3 collection and see music you never paid for, its really no difference… Continue reading Respecting content
It’s hot!
Just got back from Les Schwab – Car read 112 on the way home, avg 108. Here is my spreadsheet I’ve been tracking the last two days:
Noisy Mac Book Pro fan
Hopefully this evidence will get the Apple store to replace the fan. I know they have the parts now 🙂 I took it there originally because I had to leave the next day for my trip. They heard it, but said it was “in spec” yet ordered the fans anyway. Who thinks this is “in… Continue reading Noisy Mac Book Pro fan
A quote to dwell on
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Think about this as we give up right after right to the NSA, FBI, for “world safety” Who made this quote? Ben Franklin
A/C!
Since being forced to move my window A/C unit has been on the new deck, not having double hung window to fit into. So with the heat wave coming (92, 102, 102, 96) I said screw it and bought my first portable A/C unit, a Sharp CVP12LX for $650 from Frys. It does 11,500 BTU… Continue reading A/C!
Myspace ad pushes adware to millions of pcs
No macs of course – This is why I stopped using myspace – they don’t check any of the content put on their site. If you use windows, be wary of myspace content. People can upload anything they want, including ads that take advantage of windows security flaws, as millions of windows users found out:… Continue reading Myspace ad pushes adware to millions of pcs

Today we hit Target at 8am for socks and goodies. Then to the park and ran into my brother who was finishing planning my 40th birthday surprise!
