Snowing in Portland!
The snow is not sticking here, mainly ice, but Lucien, who lives farther southeast and in a higher elevation, has this gorgeous scenery!
YAY TK3 for OS X is done!
We have not uploaded the files to the site yet (we need to add a “For OS X button” but when they are there, I’ll post a link. I’ve been working on this for 2 years, off and on, mostly off, but it is finally shipping. I learned how to port an application originally written… Continue reading YAY TK3 for OS X is done!
Apple Store shirt
Yes, I scanned it, and I will scan all of the other shirts, worked much better than using my digital camera, albeit slower.
One crown, $1100 later, I am good to go
The one tooth that has always been an issue (and a crown trainee for some time) looks like it took a toll from the braces and as such, I’ll be getting it crowned this December. Wee! At least it will be done with. Man, dentistry is expensive 🙂
Humorous Apple Store followup
My phone just rang. Random Guy – “Hello, is this the Apple Store?” Me – “No, but i was just there” Him – “Odd, I called mall services and they gave me your number” After thinking about it for a few minutes, I realized that I had called mall services this week to find out… Continue reading Humorous Apple Store followup
Video from Apple Store opening
I have posted a summary page with a nice video from a fellow line-member at: Apple Store Grand Opening
Apple Store Anecdotes
So the opening has come and gone. I had a blast! While in line, I met a nice guy from the Eugene Mac group and there were many more babies and small kids than I expected for that time of the morning. The quote of the morning was “Oh my gosh, look at the line!”… Continue reading Apple Store Anecdotes
FileVault breaks some applescripts
After the Apple Store Grand Opening, I had to move some photos from the laptop to the G5 and I wanted to preserve my comments. So I broke out the trust Caption Buddy, which gave me errors. After some wasted time, I found that on a system using FileVault, “/Users/yourname/Sites/index.html” as posix file becomes “:yourname:Sites:index.html”… Continue reading FileVault breaks some applescripts
Apple Store Portland Grand Opening
OK so here I am at Washington Square Mall with Lucien and I’ve posted some early pics. Sure enough, 6:50am was not early enough to be first! Apple Store Pictures Update: At 1:45 I left with Julie (thanks for coming!) and there were still 50+ people in line. Thanks to Lucien for keeping me company… Continue reading Apple Store Portland Grand Opening
Apple launches new iPod site for teens
haha if you want a chuckle, head on over to iPodRocks.com and check out the “Convince your parents” section. I love how the screens bounce in (so Apple-like) and the “one load of laundry” coupon just kills me. LOL
Congratulations to Julie!
Julie passed her one month no-smoking anniversary. What a hard thing to take on, let alone do so big congratulations to her!
LaunchBar – you need this
I have used LaunchBar for Mac OS X since day one of Mac OS X. This little application will save you so much time, you’ll not know how you lived without it! LaunchBar is a program that scans selected directories and indexs the files found. You can refine this search to just applications, or documents,… Continue reading LaunchBar – you need this
Java 1.4.1/Panther
Apple released Java 1.4.1 for Panther but it does not seem to be there in Software Updates (Shouldn’t panther have already had 1.4.1?) Anyway, there it is.
Mac OS X 10.3.1 is available via software update
Filevault fixes, FW 800 fixes, etc
When your mac gets pissy, check your hubs
I plugged my stalwart 3G iPod into my g5 dock yesterday, iTunes launched and then gave me a -36 error and failed. Ok, so now my song list on the iPod was hosed. I tried again, same thing. I tried to restore the iPod but that locked up – even Panther. I had to hard… Continue reading When your mac gets pissy, check your hubs
No More Braces!
Yes indeedy my braces came off this morning! My teeth are so smooth! I now have retainers for life – I wear them 24/7 for a week, then just at night. I’ll be using Opalecence to whiten my teeth this week. I also picked up an Oral-B Deluxe 7900 teeth care system at the store!… Continue reading No More Braces!
This is one of the best things I have seen
Thanks to Jim for this link to Ballmer’s iPod This made my week!
Disney Pins Shadow Box
Disney Pins from Living in Oregon I made a shadow box (well I removed the velour and added cork, might paint the cork later) for my Disney Pins collection
Neat feature of Sherlock
The Sherlock in Panther has this neat feature (was this in Jag?) When searching for a movie, in the “near” field, you cannot only enter a zip code or city/state/zip, but you can enter a name from your address book and Sherlock will use their address for the search!
