Title: Why does Apple have this compulsion to abuse .Mac? Category: Apple .mac could be such a great service. A shining beacon of Apple design. Now don’t get me wrong, .Mac does some nice things. I use .Mac solely for syncing my address book and bookmarks, which is nice because they are backed up hourly.… Continue reading Why does Apple have this compulsion to abuse .Mac

Picked up iLife 08 today. While it is installing, it asked me to register. Ok, so it takes me to an apple web page, but oops, no product listing yet! It’s not like they knew this was coming….

Open Letter to Universal Music Group
To: communications@umusic.com To whom it may concern, Hello! I thought i would drop a note off to your company. I honestly don’t know which artists are under the UMG umbrella, but I do know that you need my business. I don’t need any artists content. Should you decide to not renew your iTunes contract, I… Continue reading Open Letter to Universal Music Group
Wow! What a vacuum!
I have a 10 year old Phantom that has worked great for all of these years, but its a little old and it can’t get in small places. The roomba works awesome in picking up dust, hair, etc, but I knew I was missing the deep dirt. So I ordered an ElextroLux EL 7055A”>ElectroLux EL… Continue reading Wow! What a vacuum!

I want ZFS, I really do. Sun exec Jonathan Schwartz said “Apple will announce that zfs has become the file system for OS X” Now every website, blog and news agency has put words in his mouth by saying he announced it would be in Leopard. Hold on, lets hear what Apple has to say.… Continue reading On ZFS for OS X
MacBook Pro is on its way!
I pulled the trigger and ordered a new MacBook Pro, vs a Mac Pro today. The differences will be: Slightly slower hard disk (5400rpm vs 7200rpm) Larger hard disk (160 over 100). I can now store my music and photos internally, and update to a larger/faster drive later. LCD backlit screen – uses less power,… Continue reading MacBook Pro is on its way!
Old Toothbrushes
I’ve used SoniCare and Oral B’s for awhile, both effective and pricey. I’ve also used 99 cent toothbrushes, changing once a month for cleanliness. I used to toss my old toothbrushes away but now I have seen the light. I have nine old toothbrushes under the sink. Don’t use these if you ever visit. Why… Continue reading Old Toothbrushes
GeeksRUs.com was Dugg!
Since I had gotten some nice comments from random people whom I didn’t know, I decided to post my rebuttal on the iTunes scuttle to digg.com. After several hours, there were about 20 diggs. That is what I expected. Elizabeth and I then went out to Gresham to look at the Honda Fit and when… Continue reading GeeksRUs.com was Dugg!
Apple embeds user data in iTunes Plus songs – So What?
You’d think we had started a war. Cory Doctorow, who I respect for his EFF work, has gone off the deep end calling iTunes 7.2 a “downgrade”. CNET quotes: Songs available on iTunes Plus reveal users’ personal information. Privacy group suspects Apple goofed. First off, did anyone think Apple was going to just sell plain… Continue reading Apple embeds user data in iTunes Plus songs – So What?
iTunes ate 3 songs
Update 2 Ok I’ve fixed my library. Here is the series of errors that happened: Some of my songs were 127kbps AAC files, not the files I paid for. My iTMS library is on a server, while the library is on my laptop. The library was offline at the time I upgraded my music. Music… Continue reading iTunes ate 3 songs
Apple freed my music!
Apple released the update to iTunes that lets you purchase DRM free music and upgrade your library. The process is a little cryptic however. Accept the licensing agreement, then on the iTunes Plus page there will be an… Continue reading Apple freed my music!
Excellent Apple service
So I sold my G5 on ebay and during shipping, one of the drives slid out and broke the pins/cable. I called the Apple store and it was around $140 for the cable and labor. The purchaser lives in NJ so he took it to the store there. I called them today to find out… Continue reading Excellent Apple service

Apple effectively doubling cost of retail store ProCare
According to this story over at Apple Insider, Apple will be splitting their Pro Care services into two $99 services, one for hardware support, one for training support. Seems like a good time for other dealers to jump in and take some of that business!
Apple Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook / MacBook Pro
Update 3 Apple said to track the status but the battery is not covered even under AppleCare, unless it has a major failure. I hope that doesn’t mean “it burned your house down.” Update 2 Now that I’ve been on battery for an hour, the full capacity reads 5054! I am taking it in to… Continue reading Apple Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook / MacBook Pro
Frys has Segate 500gb SATA for $119.99
They have had this price for a couple weeks now. 5 year warranty, 7200rpm, 16mb cache.
