My recent issue with my laptop forced me to try Time Machine over a wireless network to the Airport Extreme N. This has been working fine, but I wanted to see if I could eek out even better performance. Thus, I dedicated the Airport Extreme N to a 5ghz N only network. I then set… Continue reading Be nice to your wireless network
Karma, Apple Quality and Excellent Support
As some of you may have read in a recent post, I pondered the quality of Apple products of late. As fate would have it, my MacBook Pro shot fire this morning. Two small flashes of yellow above the F4 key, accompanied by a “zit” noise and the machine powering off. I called AppleCare and… Continue reading Karma, Apple Quality and Excellent Support

Never believe what AT&T tells you
So this spring Elizabeth lost her Verizon phone. She could have used an old phone, but decided that since she wanted a new iPhone coming in June, she’d go ahead and switch to AT&T. Went in, told them our plans and asked if signing up now or getting a phone would screw us in June… Continue reading Never believe what AT&T tells you
Has Apple’s success hurt product quality?
Apple is at a peak. The Macintosh is wildly successful. The iPhone even more so. The Apple brand is not just well known, but well known for quality. The “PC/Mac” ad campaign has been very successful, touting how the “Mac just works” while Vista is a dud. Reports I’ve read in the past (I am… Continue reading Has Apple’s success hurt product quality?

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long blog
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog is Joss Whedon’s (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) gift to the world. Neil Patrick Harris plays Dr. Horrible, a fumbling mad scientist trying to get into the Evil League of Evil. Nathan Fillion (Firefly) plays the good doctor’s nemesis, Captain Hammer. Oh and it’s a musical. Excellent. Free for a while… Continue reading Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long blog

Why I won’t be getting an iPhone 3G (soon)
I don’t know when/if I’ll be getting a iPhone 3G, but I know it won’t be soon and the reason is cost. Steve Jobs touted the lower cost of the iPhone – Bullshit, Steve. At $15 a month more for the same service (unlimited data + 200 sms), this comes out to $360 over two… Continue reading Why I won’t be getting an iPhone 3G (soon)

LG Allergiene Washing Machine
For the new digs, we retired our 16 year old Kenmore washing machine, which was a true stalwart with only one repair needed, but the writing was on the wall for the top loading machine. We picked up a LG front loading machine which uses one third of the water of a top loader and… Continue reading LG Allergiene Washing Machine
Attacks to the freedom of the Internet
My letter to Congressman Wu: Mr. Wu, I write to you concerned about the Internet. As we fully know, the Internet changed the world, allowing everyone to have the American dream of one voice, and a voice that could be heard. Now, the Internet is threatened. ISPs are starting to get money hungry. I write… Continue reading Attacks to the freedom of the Internet
wow, this hillary assassination comment just gets worse
Apology or not, now she can start to see what she has started. Check out this Fox News clip of someone joking about killing Barack Obama. How disgusting.
Apple Store opens in Vancouver, BC
My friend John sent me this photo from the opening of the Apple Store in Vancouver, BC:
HIllary must quit the race now
Citing the assassination of Bobby Kennedy as a reason to stay in the race shows several things: Such poor judgement, she is not qualified to be President of the United States Near criminal activity. To even mention the possibility that someone might assassinate Obama puts her as suspect #1 should such a horrible event occur,… Continue reading HIllary must quit the race now
