Of course how do they tell you to learn about these scams? Click the link they say! Doh! Episode #001 2005-01-20
I’m new to the podcasting scene. It seems people are broadcasting audio bits about whatever they are interested in, then including links to the mp3s in the RSS feeds. Aggregators, like iPodder, can then download the files and sync them into your iTunes, and thus iPod, for you to listen to! So I decided to… Continue reading Episode #001 2005-01-20

Toshiba TV Calls for Help
The Register reports on how a Toshiba TV cries for help. This is awesome! Interesting out hour wave space is overlapping at random times. Cancelled my season pass to The Screen Savers
The Screen Savers as not been the same since G4 bought TechTV and Leo left. But today’s show ,where co-host Alex smashed up a perfectly working Mac out of some childish anger, which could have at least been used by a school somewhere, that was it. I don’t need to hear the 95% stories –… Continue reading Cancelled my season pass to The Screen Savers

TiVo’s one huge flaw
TiVo’s one huge flaw is that it does not track season passes across channels. I had been wondering why I was not seeing any Deadwood episodes and now I realize why – They are on HBO2 now, not HBOW. The listing does not show them as repeats, so who is to know? So the episode… Continue reading TiVo’s one huge flaw
Source of Genesis crash discovered
My brother sent me this telling data about why the Genesis probe crashed to earth after neither of the two chutes succeeded in opening. It turns out that Genesis was on track to a proper snag by the helicopters but as it came through the atmosphere, Service Pack 2 was automatically installed and activated. Next,… Continue reading Source of Genesis crash discovered
Netflix via Tivo??
This might be the thing that makes me buy a HD DirecTivo. MSNBC is reporting that TiVo and Netflix are getting in bed together. If you have a network based TiVo (I don’t) you’ll be able to download movies from NetFlix directly instead of waiting for the DVDs to show up. If the movies are… Continue reading Netflix via Tivo??

In the “You can’t teach an old dog new security tricks” a firm in Germany has reported finding several flaws in SP2 that allow circumvention of the new security dialogs. Nice job, MS. My index page is finally HTML 4.01 validated. I have some older entries that have bad URLs, but I’ll weed those out. As a result, look for a new CopyURL applescript that encodes ampersands properly 🙂
OSCON Report
OMUG posted my report about my morning at OSCON this week.
Aha! Microsoft’s plans are clear!
According to this story, Microsoft is planning to market its own anti-virus software. Nice! So let’s see – they sell you (not me) the crappy, bug ridden OS that has so many holes it is hard to not get a virus or to get hacked, and then they sell you software to remove those viruses.… Continue reading Aha!
